GL Africa Energy (UK) owns and operates a 105MW power plant in in the Zambia’s copper belt town of Ndola, under Ndola Energy Company Limited (NECL). The company has a power purchase agreement with the Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO). This power is fed directly into the Zambian national grid.
Phase 1 of the project producing 50MW of power was completed in 2013. In February 2017, NECL commissioned Phase two of this project which added 55MW of power into the Zambia National Grid.
In January 2017, GL Africa Energy (UK) was awarded a tender to build and operate a 250 MW gas-powered plant by the Government of Mozambique.
GL Africa Energy (UK) is in the process of securing additional Power Purchase Agreements in Africa and beyond and is currently screening opportunities in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Kenya, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo among other countries.
